I love things. Cosas. Objects. The special ones that wake up the butterflies. The ones with shapes and colours and textures that change the expression of faces when spotted. I love utilitarian simple objects above all—teapots, bowls, cups—because they have the power to enhance the rituals of life, the power to improve our daily experiences through beauty.

Handcrafted pottery to add beauty and intentionality to our everyday experiences.

I am Julieta, a designer and potter based in Sydney, Australia. The fluffy model in these photos is Saga, studio companion and sponge thief.

Most of my work is wheel-thrown, but when the gods of clay strike, I sometimes hand-build specific projects. I make tableware, pieces that people can use and enjoy every day. I especially love making teapots because they make the act of brewing tea more mindful and ritualistic. I prefer simple shapes with quiet glazes and have a soft spot for clay speckles (or “sparkles”, as I like to call them).

“In the realm of handicrafts, utility is the wellspring of beauty.”

Beauty of Everyday Things, Soetsu Yanagi

Savouring the little moments.

I believe the beauty of everyday things has a way of seeping into our senses, stealthily providing us with microdoses of happiness. Having objects in our lives that are meaningful to us—especially those we use in our daily rituals—is nourishing for the soul.

Each and every one of my pieces is created with a sense of purpose and dedication. I want my work to inspire people to savour the little moments of life, like the first coffee of the day or an afternoon tea.
